Shomir Wilson is an associate professor in Penn State’s College of Information Sciences and Technology and director of the Human Language Technologies Lab at Penn State. His research focuses on natural language processing and artificial intelligence, such as the technology underlying large language models like ChatGPT, as well as security and privacy issues. Current projects include exploring how to use artificial intelligence technology to make lengthy legal documents like privacy policies more user-friendly.
Wilson has held several National Science Foundation fellowships at leading universities around the world, including the University of Edinburgh, the National University of Singapore, and Macquarie University, Australia. He has presented his research at the top conferences in his field, including the Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics, the Conference of the European Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics, the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Conference, and the Conference on Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing.
