About

  • Kennedy is available to explain how new variants of SARS-CoV-2, including the omicron variant, arise and how we can use this knowledge to reduce the burden of disease.
  • He can comment on the various evolutionary trajectories that SARS-CoV-2 may take in the future, and how vaccines, drugs and other selection pressures could influence those trajectories.

David Kennedy’s research focuses on investigating how pathogens, including viruses and bacteria, evolve. He is particularly interested in how selection pressures, such as drugs and vaccines, may influence this evolution. This knowledge can be used to delay, prevent, or reverse adverse evolutionary outcomes, such as drug and vaccine resistance.
