  • Dean Hardin's expertise lends itself to insightful conversations about news literacy for all. She spearheaded the launch of a two year initiative across Penn State to encourage better news literacy. Especially amidst election season, she can speak to why trusted news sources are important and how to decipher facts from "fake" news.
  • Hardin served as president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), a nonprofit, educational association of journalism and mass communication educators, students and media professionals

Marie Hardin is the Dean of the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications and a professor of journalism at Penn State. Hardin’s research has focused on issues of diversity, ethics, and professionalism in sports journalism. She is the author of more than 60 journal articles and book chapters and is co-editor of a book on sports and digital media, published by Routledge. In 2013, the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication named her a distinguished alumni scholar.
